What I'm Wearing (and Using) Today

It's been a long time since I shared what I've been puttin' on my face. My beauty routine has changed a bit as of late, and unsolicited customer compliments have been on the rise ever since. So maybe now would be a good time for the latest edition of What I'm Wearing Today!

The Hair
For the most part, I've found the aging process less innocuous than I hoped it would be. I will say, however, that with age, I've become way more willing to take beauty "risks." Case in point: This past weekend, I decided to see if I could dye my hair a rich, lovely shade of deep red using nothing but natural hair color. After Palette by Nature's 6CB proved lovely, but not really RED, I decided to give Logona's Color Cream in Tizian a whirl for the first time. The result? It was easy to apply, easy to rinse out, and the rich, deep red was exactly what I had hoped to achieve. I used Rare El'ements Shampoo and Conditioner instead of Logona's Color Conditioner, because that's what I had on hand, and it worked great.

The Face
I do most of my facial care routine in the evening, starting with the Clarisonic Mia (I'll refrain from rambling on about how awesome it is yet again, as by now you've probably got a good sense of how much I love it) and  either the Naturopathica's Aloe Cleansing Gel or the Buta'i Clean A Face cleansing lotion. I immediately spritz on a bit of Intelligent Nutrient's Anti-Aging Mist, then the Anti Aging Serum, and finally a dot of Naturopathica's Vitamin K Eye Brightening Serum. In the morning, I rinse my face with warm water before applying Naturopathica's Lavender Protective Moisturizer SPF17. I am totally hooked on the lavender scent, and the rich (but not greasy) feel of the lotion.

The Makeup
If my skin is feeling dry, I use Vapour Organic Beauty Soft Focus Foundation in s115. If my skin is on the oily side (or it's going to be a hot, muggy day), I opt for Couleur Caramel's Hydracoton Foundation in Natural. Then it's a swipe on each cheek of Vapour's Bronzer in Mirage, followed by a wisp of Logona Blush in Mauve (now replaced with their new Rose/Pink). If needed, I use Couleur Caramel's Concealer Pencil under the eyes, and then apply Couleur Caramel's Loose Finishing Powder to blend it all in.

I rarely wear the same eye makeup two days in a row, but one look that's been getting a lot of compliments lately is Vapour's Eye Shadow in Charm on the lid, Smolder in the crease, then blended together a bit to create a very soft, warm shade that compliments my blue eyes. Then it's Logona Brown Eye Pencil or Couleur Caramel's Eye Pencil in Purple 104, Couleur Caramel Mascara in 203, and Logona's new Brow Pencil in Blond.

My favorite new makeup find, though, is Logona's stunning new Lipstick Pencil in Berry. Last weekend, on her way out the door, a customer commented, "By the way, your lip color is beautiful. It's really, really striking on you." Logona has added gemstones in their updated makeup line, and I think maybe that's what sets them apart from what I've seen up til now, as all of the new lip shades have a gorgeous and unique bit of shimmer to them. I've also been adding a touch of their lip gloss in Mauve for moisture or, if I'm going out, I'll glam it up with Couleur Caramel's gloss in Cherry Ouvrir.

That's the scoop: Lovely new makeup, a fabulous collection of skin care, and a saucy new hair color to top it all off!

Intelligent Nutrients is a great brand. We carry the line at Charleston Naturally and hear great things from customers all of the time. Other organic skin care options exist, too: Dr. Hauschka, Suki and ilike are all very popular with our customers as well. Enjoy!
