In honor of Earth Month, I’ll be hitting up the ladies of the green beauty scene for their natural and organic product picks. I could listen to Terri Bly talk about this topic until the grass-fed cows come home. An actress, scientist, and founder of Natureofbeauty.com, she has an encyclopedic knowledge of ingredients and a knack for sourcing super-healthy products that actually work. Whatever she tells me to buy, I buy—and have never been disappointed!
Dr. Alkaitis Organic Facial Cleanser ($55) – You’d be hard-pressed to find a better line of skin care. Every product is made-to-order, so the ingredients remain fresh and active. This 100-percent organic cleanser is perfect for all skin types. I always reach for it when my skin is dry, irritated, or in need of some TLC.
Intelligent Nutrients Anti Aging Serum ($60) – Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher’s new Intelligent Nutrients line is so pure, the products are certified-organic by either the USDA or the Soil Association. My favorite is the Anti-Aging Serum. My skin looks radiant almost immediately after applying it.
Rare El’ements Replenishing Essential Conditioner ($44) – I have ridiculously thick hair, so finding a top-notch conditioner has always been a priority. This one is made by the owners of Amato Beverly Hills Spa, who weren’t so much interested in “green” hair care as they were in achieving healthy, gorgeous hair. It’s without question the best conditioner I have ever used.
Couleur Caramel Eye Shadow ($14) – I love just about every product in this makeup line. The mascara is fantastic, as are the foundations and glosses. But what truly separates Couleur Caramel from the rest of the green beauty pack—and puts it in the same league as the department store brands—are the eye shadows. Eighty shades of densely pigmented, gorgeous color.
Red Flower Body Lotion in Icelandic Moonflower ($24 – coming soon!) – I will never forget the day I brought home a box of Red Flower products. A scent unlike anything I had ever experienced filled my living room. Red Flower has an entire collection of fragrant body lotions, washes, and candles, but it’s the Icelandic Moonflower line that I can’t get enough of. Oh, and the lotion is extremely moisturizing, too!
